When You Learn to Read You Have a Window to the World

The most important person in my life was my grandmother because she is the person whol told me about books.  Grandma did not have much money and probably owned about six books in her whole life.  But when everyone else was content to give me dolls and let me play by myself, my grandmother sat and talked to me, telling me that when you learn to read it gives you a window to the world.  She read to me and taught me how to read my first words.  From there my natural curiosity took over.  I have had a lifelong love of learning and many adventures because that sweet lady had time for a four-year-old.
