Sclera Contact Lenses for Medical Conditions
Sclera Contact Lenses are sometimes used for medical conditions of the eye. For example people who have had cornea problems use them in order to properly seat the contact lens over the cornea. Many times the cornea becomes irregular in shape. This can prevent the correct seating of a small contact lens where sclera contact lenses cover the entire eye and allows the lens to seat over the cornea. This not only allows the wearer to use a prescription to correct their vision but also keeps the lens from moving around like soft contacts do. These were introduced as medical aids long before they were popular as theatrical aids.
